Weardale Police Update

RTC at Kinninvie Crossroads

Members of the team headed over to Kinninvie to assist Roads Policing colleagues at a serious RTC as they investigated the collision.

PCSO Walton carried out a visit to Stanhope School where he spoke to the children about Neighbourhood Policing.

10 vehicles were caught speeding in Weardale by the Community Speedwatch volunteers.

Officers have responded to several reports of poaching in the area.

Weardale NPT are continuing to visit farms in the area to issue SelectaDNA kits to the owners. We want to make sure that every piece of farming machinery and equipment in the Weardale and Teesdale area is identifiable so that when we catch criminals with suspected stolen equipment we can tie them to that theft. For more information please watch the below video where Inspector Andy Reeves talks about the project.

You may also see that the team has been out putting up signs across the Dale to warn criminals that if they steal from our community we will find them and now have a further method to link them to the crimes they commit.

If you have a farm in the areas mentioned in the video, don't wait for us to get to you, email weardalebeats@durham.police.uk or barnardcastlebeats@durham.police.uk and we will get your kit to you. Each kit is good to mark 50 pieces of machinery or tools so please make the most of this opportunity.
